A 21-year-old University of Georgia student, identified as Kristin Sargent, survived a fall from an eighth-floor window at the Rambler Athens apartment complex in Athens, Georgia, around 7:30 pm on Saturday evening. The luxury apartment building, which costs about $1,599 per month, is located near the university campus. Sargent was reportedly dancing on a couch or air mattress near an open window when she fell through the screen and landed in the courtyard pool area. A metal bench cushion broke her fall, and although she sustained injuries, she remained conscious as emergency services arrived. The incident highlights concerns about apartment safety features for high-rise buildings.
