On September 27, a Delta Airlines flight from Barcelona to Boston made an emergency landing in Porto, Portugal, due to smoke detected in the cabin. The Airbus A330 aircraft was carrying 296 passengers and 13 crew members. Around 12 passengers received oxygen on board before the plane landed safely. Eight people were treated on the tarmac at Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport, while four individuals, including three passengers and one crew member, were admitted to São João Hospital in Porto, where they were reported to have mild respiratory symptoms but remained stable.
Firefighters, police, and ambulances responded to assist with the emergency landing. The cause of the smoke was not immediately known, though it disrupted normal airport operations briefly. Delta has recently faced several emergency landings within a week, including two due to cabin fumes.
