The Aporia
On Sunday morning, around 5:15 AM, a newly graduated police officer from Queensland was injured during a callout at a home on Bogong Street in Hemmant, Brisbane. The officers were responding to reports of a disturbance involving a father and son. During the interaction with two men present, one allegedly attacked the constable, stabbing him in the neck and torso before fleeing on a bicycle. Despite his injuries, the officer gave chase and even used a taser against the suspect while attempting to staunch bleeding from his neck. The assailant was apprehended about 7 AM near a business outside Hemmant. The injured officer is currently in stable condition at a hospital. Queensland Police Union president Shane Prior praised the constable's actions as heroic, noting that the weapon likely wasn't a knife but another implement.
