The Aporia
Rio Ngumoha, an 18-year-old forward from Liverpool, will not be part of the England squad that faces Spain in the Nations League opener at Wembley on Saturday, despite being initially named in a full squad by manager Thomas Tuchel earlier this month. Ngumoha had been one of five supplementary players to join the senior team for their pre-World Cup training camp in Florida and made his debut in a friendly against New Zealand. He became the fifth youngest player ever to represent England, impressing with his performance at such a young age. However, due to UEFA regulations limiting matchday squads to 23 players, Tuchel had to make cuts from the larger training squad of 24 members, resulting in Ngumoha being left out. Despite this setback, Ngumoha is expected to have more chances with England in upcoming Nations League matches against Czechia and Croatia.
