On September 25, 14 people, including two senior military officials and other crew members, died when a Congolese army plane crashed in Kenge, Kwango province. The plane was heading to Kinshasa from Kikwit when it experienced technical issues and attempted an emergency landing in Kenge, which lacks a proper runway. As a result, the aircraft hit residential areas, causing fatalities among those on board; 12 bodies were badly burned beyond recognition while one body was found outside the wreckage. The victims included General Likulia Bakumi, auditor general of the army, and Lieutenant General Mutombo Katalayi Tiende, head of the military court. Major-General Efomi Ekenge confirmed the death toll and said an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the crash.
