The bodies of a 24-year-old Iowa teacher and a 10-year-old student have been recovered after a tragic incident in the water during a fifth-grade school field trip.
Hannah Jorgensen, 24, of Tiffin, and Ahmed Osman, 10, of Iowa City were identified as the victims by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday.

The tragedy began shortly after noon Tuesday, when deputies were called to Lake Macbride following a report of people in the water near the Coralville Reservoir spillway.

At 12.43 pm, first responders recovered an adult from the Coralville Reservoir.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities then began a desperate search for a missing child, with crews scouring the area throughout the afternoon and into the evening.

The Iowa City Community School District said it was 'heartbroken' by the loss of the two members of its school community.
