DoorDash agreed to a $131 million settlement with New York City in March after being accused of underpaying delivery workers. The settlement includes $83 million to resolve disputes over pay calculations for waiting times and another $25 million for past underpayments or delays. DoorDash admitted its mistakes were not intentional but still apologized, saying "we screwed up." About 264,000 workers, known as Dashers, will receive payouts with a median amount of around $48. The city's Department of Consumer and Worker Protection initiated the investigation, alleging DoorDash and Uber Eats deprived workers of more than $550 million in tips through "design tricks." Mayor Zohran Mamdani called this settlement the largest labor enforcement action in NYC history.
