Judge sets 2028 trial for alleged 9/11 mastermind

A military judge has set June 5, 2028 as the trial date for Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, who is accused of being the mastermind behind the September 11, 2001, attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people in New York City and Washington D.C. Mohammed is being tried alongside three other men, including Walid bin Attash and Ali Abdul Aziz Ali, for their alleged roles in planning and executing the hijackings of four commercial airplanes, which were used to carry out the attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and a field in Pennsylvania.
