Powerful explosions hit a Syrian army site near the town of al-Eis, south of Aleppo, early on Monday, according to the state-run SANA news agency. At least four people were injured in the blast, which occurred at a weapons depot. Faisal Mohammad Ali, head of civil defence operations in Aleppo, reported that ongoing explosions prevented emergency services from reaching the site and advised civilians to stay away. The cause of the blasts was not immediately known. Aleppo Governor Azzam al-Gharib urged residents to remain indoors for safety reasons, with hospitals on full alert and roads closed to ensure civilian protection. Al Jazeera’s Obaida Hitto reported similar details about explosions that rocked a Syrian army ammunition depot south of Aleppo, injuring at least four people.
