Brutal MLB collision leaves New York Mets first baseman Jared Young motionless on the field

On Thursday night, Mets first baseman Jared Young had to be stretchered off the field after a frightening collision during a game against the Phillies at Citi Field. The incident occurred in the top of the sixth inning when Philadelphia’s Justin Crawford hit a slow roller down the first base line. Both Young and pitcher Nolan McLean converged on the ball, with McLean's knee hitting Young’s head as they collided, leaving him motionless for several minutes before being removed from the field. Trainers stabilized Young and conducted tests at a hospital; while his CT scan was negative, he exhibited concussion symptoms. The Mets replaced Young with Mark Vientos, and no official update on Young's status had been released by game’s end.
