The Aporia
Bills starting defensive tackle Ed Oliver was ruled out for their game against the Detroit Lions on Thursday night after hurting his hip during warmups. This announcement came 90 minutes before kickoff, leaving Buffalo with only four healthy defensive linemen as rookie T.J. Sanders is also sidelined due to a knee/illness. The injury is significant given Oliver's performance in Week 1 when he contributed five tackles and recovered a fumble against the Houston Texans. Since being drafted ninth overall by the Bills in 2019, Oliver has amassed 30 sacks for the team. Additionally, earlier this offseason, Oliver had revealed that he was grieving the loss of his 2-year-old son, leading GM Brandon Beane to express condolences on behalf of the organization.
