Enzo Maresca, the new head coach at Manchester City, gave several non-regulars playing time in their Carabao Cup match against Norwich City on Thursday, September 17. The game ended with Manchester City dominating with a score of 5-0. Summer signing Geronimo Rulli made his debut as the goalkeeper, while teenage midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi and Brazilian winger Allan also played their first games for the club. Floyd Samba, an 18-year-old forward who recently joined the first team from City's youth setup under Maresca, scored twice in just his second senior appearance to steal the show. Other scorers included Rayan Cherki and a substitute goal by Ryan McAidoo. The win advances Manchester City to a fourth-round match against Brighton in the competition.
