One flashpoint is Vice President JD Vance's proposal to expand childcare subsidies by broadening eligibility under the Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF), potentially providing some married families with a stay-at-home parent up to about $9,000 per child annually.

"His proposal sounds great, right?" Richard Stern, vice president of the Plymouth Institute for Free Enterprise at Advancing American Freedom, told Fox News Digital.

On housing, the report says government regulations add 26.4% to the cost of a new single-family home and calls for permitting, zoning and land-use reforms to lower construction costs.
