18yo woman stomped on and stabbed in 'brutal' assault in Melbourne's west

On Wednesday night, an 18-year-old woman was severely assaulted at Robert Bruce Reserve in Deer Park, Melbourne. She was kicked in the head and stomped on before being stabbed multiple times by a group of youths, sustaining six stab wounds. Police are investigating the incident as part of a planned attack that followed an online dispute. The teenager remains in hospital in stable condition while two knives and a hair extension were seized for forensic examination. Detective Acting Sergeant Ali Samie described the assault as "brutal" and noted how fortunate it was that the victim survived, given the severity of her injuries.
