The NYPD has 2,830 officers assigned to Manhattan, 2,620 in the Bronx, 3,513 in Brooklyn, 2,285 in Queens and 543 on Staten Island, according to Inspector William Haut, commanding officer of NYPD’s Office of Crime Control Strategies.

Haut pointed out citywide major crime fell 6% through August, with murders dropping 24%, shooting incidents falling 9% and shooting victims declining nearly 12%.

In the 50th Precinct’s major crime fell 3.8% through Aug. 30, but killings jumped from one to eight and shooting victims rose to 12 from seven.

Meanwhile, felony assaults increased more than 11% while reported rapes increased to 29 from 18 — a 61% jump, according to the data.

In the 46th Precinct, major crime rose 9% through Aug. 30, with murders climbing from six to 10 while shooting incidents increased to 21 from 18, the data showed.
