Kim Kardashian wins symbolic one euro damages for Paris jewellery heist

On 2 October 2016, during Paris Fashion Week, Kim Kardashian was targeted by robbers who stole over $6 million worth of jewelry from her suite at the Hôtel de Pourtalès in Paris. The robbers were dressed as police officers and used zip ties to restrain Kardashian before fleeing with the stolen items, including a diamond ring she had worn that evening to a Givenchy show. Eight individuals were convicted last year for their involvement in this crime, which Kardashian described as "the most terrifying experience of my life." In court proceedings, Kardashian requested and was granted symbolic compensation of €1, matching the exact amount she asked for. Similarly, her stylist Simone Harouche received the same symbolic compensation. A former receptionist from the hotel, who had been traumatized by the incident, was awarded a significantly larger sum of €109,516 in damages and interest. The hotel itself was granted €50,000. Kardashian and Harouche expressed gratitude to the French justice system for holding those responsible accountable and recognizing the trauma they endured.
