A bus carrying schoolchildren crashed on Friday morning near the town of Lent, northeast of Lyon, France, killing one minor and one young adult, both aged 18. The accident left 16 people injured, with three in critical condition. The incident occurred around 34 miles from the Swiss border when the vehicle veered off the road and hit a tree. French transport minister Philippe Tabarot was heading to the scene following reports of "a serious bus accident." Authorities have activated a departmental operations center to coordinate rescue efforts, and local mayor Yves Cristin told media that the bus had left the road and struck a tree in a ditch.
