Sir Tom Jones, the 86-year-old Welsh music icon from Pontypridd, nearly passed away after being hospitalized in Los Angeles with pneumonia, which he initially believed to be a severe case of the flu. He spent a week at Ronald Regan UCLA Medical Center, including two days in the ICU, and was forced to cancel or reschedule several concerts. During his recovery, medical staff asked Jones what his next step would be once discharged, to which he responded that he needed to return to performing. On November 2, Jones resumed his performance at the Greek Theatre and told the audience about his near-death experience, stating, "Oh well, this is it, you've had a wonderful life, Tommy, but it's over right now." Despite the scare, he emphasized that being on stage was where he belonged. Additionally, ITV recently removed him from The Voice UK coaching panel after nine seasons.
