A British healthcare worker in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has tested positive for Ebola and will be evacuated to the UK for treatment. The patient, whose identity is undisclosed, is reported to be in stable condition and expected to arrive in Britain on Wednesday or Thursday. This marks the first case involving a British national linked to the current outbreak, which has surpassed 10,000 cases with nearly 5,000 deaths across four African countries since May. The UK government stated that the risk to the public remains low and that they have established procedures in place for handling such cases.
