Sebastien Bassong, a former Tottenham Hotspur defender now 40 years old, has been fined for evading a £7 Tube fare in London. He was caught using someone else's train driver pass at St Paul's station in May when he tailgated a friend through the barriers. Court documents revealed that Bassong had possession of an Oystercard belonging to his friend’s ex-girlfriend, issued as a DLR employee card. Despite claiming financial hardship due to divorce and unemployment, Bassong was convicted by Wimbledon Magistrates Court on October 30. He was fined £220 plus ordered to pay the fare, prosecution costs of £250, and a victim surcharge of £88.
