Brandon Aiyuk, the disgruntled former San Francisco 49ers receiver who hasn't played since injuring his knee against Kansas City in October 2024, has hired Drew Rosenhaus as his new agent to potentially return to the NFL. Since then, Aiyuk was placed on the reserve/left squad list and missed mandatory team activities, leading the 49ers to void $27 million guaranteed in his contract for 2026. This move follows a contentious summer where Aiyuk criticized head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch, calling them "weirdos." Previously, he had fired his agent Ryan Williams but was without representation until Rosenhaus’s announcement on Monday. Despite the strained relationship with the team, Aiyuk remains under contract if he applies to come off the reserve/left squad list and is reinstated by the NFL.
