Biden-appointed U.S. District Judge Rebecca Pennell has scheduled a hearing for November 24, 2026, to review arguments about whether three anti-ICE protesters should receive acquittals or new trials. The protesters, Jac Archer, Justice Forral, and Bajun Mavalwalla, were convicted in May of conspiring to impede federal officers during a June 2025 protest in Spokane that blocked Immigration and Customs Enforcement from transporting detainees for nine hours. Federal prosecutors are now fighting court motions aimed at overturning the guilty verdicts, arguing against tossing out the convictions.
