As of November 2, 2026, severe thunderstorms with heavy rainfall and hail have affected communities across south-east Queensland. The Bureau of Meteorology issued warnings for very dangerous storm cells from north of Maryborough down to northern NSW. In Cooroy, over 50 millimetres of rain fell within half an hour. A resident in Hervey Bay described hail accumulation on his lawn as looking like it was "covered with golf balls." The bureau forecasts more extreme weather for Tuesday, predicting potential brief and short-lived tornadoes that could cause significant damage including large hail, wind damage, and flash flooding. Senior forecaster Angus Hines warned of the severe impacts these storms may have.
