On October 23, 2026, Israeli soldiers shot and killed two Palestinian men near Hebron in the West Bank after they allegedly launched an attack, injuring five others critically. In response, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the immediate closure of Hebron city and preparation for a full lockdown of the entire West Bank starting that day. The siege continued for 10 days until November 2, when Israeli forces withdrew from Hebron following negotiations with Palestinian security forces. During this period, almost 5,000 people were displaced due to the military operations, causing significant economic damage exceeding $3.8 million daily.
During the 10-day operation, Israeli forces imposed closures on the city and surrounding villages, seizing Palestinian homes in some areas and converting them into military posts.
The operation also involved forced displacement, demolitions of homes, other structures and commercial properties, and damage to infrastructure.
