On Sunday afternoon, November 2, 2026, an engineer working for Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) named Imtiaz Ahmed, aged 54, was shot dead in a suspected targeted attack in Gulistan-i-Jauhar, Karachi. According to police and rescue services officials, Ahmed left his home in Block-13 to buy bread when unidentified assailants on a motorcycle fired at him. One bullet struck Ahmed fatally, while three others hit a nearby parked car. He was pronounced dead upon arrival at a private hospital and later transferred to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for an autopsy. The local police superintendent, Anser Ahmed Butt, ruled out robbery as the motive, stating that further investigation would determine the exact reason behind the attack. Ahmed's brother from Lahore was informed about the incident but was en route to Karachi; his wife was in Germany at the time of the shooting.
