As of November 1, 2026, Pakistan's National Emergency Operations Centre for Polio Eradication (NEOC) confirmed the country's eighth polio case this year. The latest victim is a 13-month-old girl from Union Council Janbaz-B in Bara tehsil, Khyber District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province (KP). This marks the second case reported from Khyber District and the sixth from KP province in 2026. The Pakistan Polio Eradication Programme (PPEP) stressed the importance of vaccinating every child, urging parents to ensure their children under five receive the oral polio vaccine during upcoming campaigns. Despite four large-scale polio campaigns this year, which have protected more than 45 million children multiple times, persistent efforts are needed as no child will be safe from polio until all children in Pakistan are consistently vaccinated and protected across the country.
