James Cleverly, along with Westminster councillor Festus Akinbusoye and former Richmond Park and North Kingston parliamentary candidate Sara Gezdari, has advanced in the race to become the Conservative Party's candidate for the London Mayoral Election. Businessman Alex Challoner was eliminated from contention. The final decision among these three candidates will be made by a ballot of London members, with a second round of voting scheduled if no candidate achieves more than 50% of the votes. If needed, this runoff will take place on November 23 and close on November 25, with the result announced on November 27. The Conservative Party Chairman, Kevin Hollinrake MP, emphasized that Londoners deserve a mayor who can address issues such as crime, cost of living, and housing needs, positioning the upcoming contest against incumbent Labour Mayor Sadiq Khan.
