Karl Bushby, a British adventurer and former paratrooper, crossed the Humber Bridge on November 1, 2026, in the final leg of his 28-year journey. Starting from Punta Arenas, Chile in 1998 at age 29, Bushby walked over 31,000 miles (49,890 km) without using any form of transportation and adhering to strict self-imposed rules. His trek took him across four continents and through various terrains including jungles, deserts, and Arctic ice. Upon reaching Hull, England, Bushby will be greeted by his mother, son, and 12-year-old granddaughter whom he has never met before. The journey is set to end on November 2 when he reaches Queen Victoria Square in the center of Hull at 11 AM local time.
