Kyrgios provisionally suspended after positive cocaine test in Spain

Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios, 31, has been provisionally suspended from competing and coaching since August 4 by the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) after testing positive for cocaine at a tournament in Mallorca, Spain. Kyrgios himself revealed that he had tested positive for cocaine on social media, saying it was a "huge mistake" and taking full responsibility for it. He claimed to have taken the substance away from competition, but still faces sanctions. The ITIA confirmed that Kyrgios's sample was taken on June 22 and the positive test was confirmed on July 17, after he played at Wimbledon. Kyrgios has been ranked as low as 919th in recent years due to injuries and struggles with mental health, which he has publicly discussed in the past. He will step away from public life for 28 days to focus on his well-being.
