Dan Thomas was missing from today's session of First Minister's Questions in the Senedd, the Welsh parliament, with a spokesman for his party saying beforehand that he would be 'absent for personal reasons'.

It came as Gwent Police told the Daily Mail this afternoon that a 45-year-old man from the Aberbargoed area was arrested on Sunday, September 13.

While the force did not confirm the identity of the arrested man, they added that he was taken in 'on suspicion of assault and engaging in controlling/coercive behaviour'.
