Dolores Huerta, a renowned civil rights and labor leader, passed away at the age of 96 on October 28, 2026, according to her family's statement on social media. Co-founder of the United Farm Workers (UFW) with Cesar Chavez, Huerta was celebrated for advocating against racial, political, and gender inequalities. She played a pivotal role in securing job security and health benefits for farm workers through UFW negotiations. Notably, Huerta recently made public allegations that Cesar Chavez had sexually abused her and several other women, revelations which led to the removal of his name from various monuments across California. The cause of death has not been released.
