Judge Ana Reyes has issued a preliminary injunction blocking the Trump administration from cutting down more trees at East Potomac Golf Links in Washington, D.C., after hundreds were already removed. The judge's 70-page ruling cited violations of federal environmental law due to lack of proper review and criticized President Trump's claims on his Truth Social platform that contradicted government officials' statements about the renovation plan's existence. Judge Reyes mandated ten days' notice before any further modifications, pending resolution in court. This decision follows a lawsuit by The D.C. Preservation League challenging the overhaul plans for transforming the public course into one suitable for major championship events.
Local golfers have also spoken out against the remodelling of the beloved course, which has been in operation since 1920, where they can affordably play a sport that is often a past time of the wealthy.
