As of October 26, 2026, an Italian prosecutor is seeking a life sentence with three years of daytime solitary confinement for Francis Kaufmann, a US citizen accused of murdering his partner and their 13-month-old daughter in Rome last year. The bodies were discovered on June 6, 2025, in Villa Pamphili, a park in central Rome. A week later, on June 13, 2025, Kaufmann was arrested on the Greek island of Skiathos based on evidence including witness testimony and surveillance footage. During his trial, Kaufmann, who also used the alias Rexal Ford, maintains his innocence. The prosecutor described him as manipulative and narcissistic but did not disclose a motive for the killings. A first-instance verdict is expected on November 5, with two levels of appeal available under Italian law.
