The head of Mexico's National Electoral Institute (INE), Guadalupe Taddei, resigned on Monday amid corruption allegations involving preferential treatment for an INE contractor with whom she has a personal relationship. President Claudia Sheinbaum supports the resignation, stating it is necessary to protect the institute’s integrity as it prepares for legislative elections in June 2027. Taddei cited her commitment to the institute's constitutional mission over personal interests and acknowledged that false information had been circulating regarding the allegations. The INE is now focusing on upcoming elections amid these developments.
