Junda Khoo's Ho Jiak restaurant in Town Hall, Sydney, was recently reviewed by Good Food magazine as part of its 100 Essential Restaurants list. The latest location is a large neon-framed space that builds on the traditional Nyonya cuisine inspired by Khoo’s grandmother. Notable dishes include spoon-tender beef rendang in a roti pot pie and hot-and-sour abalone soup with intense flavors. The menu also features char kwai teow with mud crab, prawn dumplings in laksa lemak, and belacan kangkung, a vegetable dish enhanced with shrimp paste and cuttlefish. Additionally, the restaurant offers impressive cocktails and youtiao churros for dessert.
