Inique Hinton, a 31-year-old man from Douglasville, Georgia, was arrested on October 25, 2026, for allegedly throwing a Molotov cocktail at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) building in downtown Atlanta. The incident occurred near 180 Ted Turner Drive around 8:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Security cameras captured Hinton walking near the ICE building before the attack, and investigators found evidence such as burned cloth, lighter fluid, a glass bottle, and a lighter at the scene.
US Attorney Theodore Hertzberg described the incident as an “act of terrorism” during a press conference, stating that attacks on federal property are assaults against democracy. Hinton faces charges of attempted arson of a federal building and depredation of government property. The former charge carries a mandatory minimum sentence of five years and a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison, while the latter has a maximum sentence of 10 years.
