On October 23, 2026, around 9:50 PM GMT, a fire broke out at Adolf Hitler’s mountain retreat, known as the Eagle's Nest or Kehlsteinhaus, in Bavaria, Germany. The building was "completely ablaze" when firefighters arrived and struggled to extinguish it due to its remote location at an altitude of 1,834 meters (6,000 feet). Police detained a 33-year-old male suspect on October 24; however, the cause of the fire remains under investigation. Local media reported that the site was "largely destroyed," and authorities urged the public to avoid the area. As snow fell on the Alpine peak, firefighters continued battling the blaze into Saturday afternoon.
