Former Port Adelaide AFL player Daniel Stewart died suddenly on Friday at the age of 37. Stewart played for the Power from 2010 to 2013, appearing in 36 games and scoring 31 goals. The club expressed deep sorrow over his passing, with chief executive Matthew Richardson stating that Stewart was "part of the Port Adelaide football family" who would always be remembered. His sudden death has devastated teammates, coaches, and staff who shared his journey at Alberton.
Stewart had a career in AFL after being drafted by Port Adelaide in 2009 and making his debut against Geelong in round four of the following season. He later co-owned several gyms across Melbourne under the name Body Fit Training with former teammate Matt Thomas, where he was known affectionately as "Snowy." His unexpected medical episode on Friday led to his death, prompting BFT to email members about their loss.
The Port Adelaide club has announced it will honor Stewart by wearing black armbands in their first home game at Adelaide Oval in 2027.
