As of October 23, 2026, new weather warnings have been issued for parts of Ireland due to two named storms hitting the island in quick succession. Met Éireann, Ireland's national meteorological service, has warned that Storm Boelo will affect the northern part and west coast of the country, with Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, and Sligo under an Orange-level wind warning from 2pm on Saturday to 9am on Sunday. Additionally, Kerry faces a separate Orange-level rain warning between 7am on Saturday and 2pm on Saturday. A Yellow-level warning for all those counties as well as Clare, Cork, and Limerick will apply between 4am on Saturday and 3pm on Saturday.
The warnings predict impacts such as flooding, difficult traveling conditions, and possible power outages. ESB Networks has deployed crews to areas already affected by power outages. Taoiseach Mícheál Martin acknowledged the efforts of emergency services and noted that storms are becoming more frequent and severe, necessitating stronger protections and adaptation measures for climate change.
